How To Hit Better Iron Shots

I have a hard time hitting my irons. I would like to hit better iron shots that consistently go the same distance. When I do not hit my irons well, I tend to hit them low and they fly farther than usual. What is going on so I can hit more greens?

When this happens you are tensing the muscles in your shoulders, elbows and wrists shortening the original lever (your arm). In turn, you make contact more of the center of the golf ball and more towards the bottom of the iron. Put a tee in the ground and make some practice swings attempting to hit the tee towards your target. If you do not hit the tee, you still have to much tension. Make swings until you can consistently make contact with the tee and then lower it until you can do this with the tee flush to the ground.
